Beyoncé’s concert film RENAISSANCE debuts atop the weekend box office chart, pulling in $21m its opening weekend.
AMC Theatres, which released the film, reported that it’s the first time in two decades that a film has opened to more than $20m on the weekend following Thanksgiving. Overseas, Renaissance grossed $6.4m in 94 territories for a worldwide take of $27.4m.
Among new arrivals, Toho International’s hit from Japan Godzilla Minus One pulled in $11m, Angel Studios’ Biblical sci-fi thriller The Shift made $4.2m and Lionsgate’s wordless Silent Night grossed $3m.
