THREE STACKS & A FLUTE

André 3000 has been spotted in public playing a flute numerous times, leaving many Outkast fans scratching their heads. But even one of hip-hop's most-skilled lyricists must stretch his creative boundaries on occasion.

Days after "Scientists & Engineers," by Killer Mike f/André 3000, Future & Eryn Allan Kane, was nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance Grammys, Dre has unveiled plans to release his debut solo album, New Blue Sun, expected on Epic Friday (11/17).

But it's not exactly what people were expecting. There's no rapping. There's no singing. There's no wordplay wizardry. It's just 87 minutes of woodwind instrumentals and wild song titles like "I swear, I Really Wanted To Make a 'Rap' Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time."

Additional players include Nate Mercereau, Surya Botofasina, Deantoni Parks, Matthewdavid, V.C.R, Diego Gaeta, Jesse Peterson and Mia Doi Todd. The album was co-produced by Carlos Niño, who was tasked with bringing André's flute playing to the center.

"I've been interested in winds for a long time, so it was just a natural progression for me to go into flutes,” André said. “I just like messing with instruments and I gravitated mostly toward wind.”

We must admit, we like his style; we might just change the name of this website to "We swear, We Really Wanted To Deliver Quality Journalism, But This Is All We Could Come Up With."
