On 11/13 Universal Music took over Latin Grammy week in Seville, Spain, with "Flamenco Is Universal," honoring one of the nation's most important art forms. Held at the world-renowned Plaza de España, the event brought together legendary flamenco families, Spanish public officials and UMG stars and execs for an extraordinary celebration.
The proceedings commenced with a speech by Universal Music Latin America & Iberian Peninsula Chairman/CEO Jesús López (pictured above), in which the Spanish native emphasized the country's global reach and influence in music.

Seated in the front row were Camarón's sons and widow, Paco de Lucía's daughters and widow, La Farruca, surrounded by her children, and the Morente family. They received accolades by such flamenco luminaries as Tomatito, La Macanita, Niño Josele, Rancapino Chico, Pedro el Granaíno and Marina Heredia.
Among the other VIPs in attendance were the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Manuel Moreno, Seville Mayor José Luis Sanz and UMG artists including Latin Grammy Album of the Year contender Juanes, Best New Artist nominee Joaquina, Sebastián Yatra, Anitta, David Bisbal, Manuel Carrasco, Danna Paola, Lola Indigo, Pablo López, Greeicy and Morat.
The Barber of Seville could not be reached for comment.
Santalucia Universal Music Week continues through 11/17 at Plaza de España with events featuring Morat, Aitana and many other leading lights of Spanish-language music.
