UPDATE: After launching last month in the U.S. and U.K., TikTok has expanded its Add to Music App feature to 19 additional countries; the music- integration tool is now available in Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, the UAE, Argentina, Colombia, the Netherlands, Turkey, South Africa, Vietnam and the Philippines.
"We have already had an incredible response to the launch of Add to Music App in the U.S. and U.K.," said TikTok Global Head of Music Business Development Ole Obermann. "Fans are embracing the opportunity to save music from TikTok directly to their favorite streaming services, driving discovery and helping more tracks break through and become hits."
TikTok has launched its Add to Music App, which will allow users to save songs they discover on the platform to the DSP of their choice. It's currently available with Spotify and Amazon Music in the U.S. and U.K.
The feature will appear as a button that says "Add song" next to a track name at the bottom of a TikTok video in the For You feed. Tracks will be saved to a default playlist depending on the DSP—songs banked to Spotify will go to the Liked Songs playlist; songs cached on Amazon Music will route to the TikTok Songs playlist (or a playlist of your choice). On Amazon Music the new app is available to Prime and Amazon Music Unlimited customers.
Said Ole Obermann, TikTok's global head of Music Business Development: "TikTok is already the world's most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, which helps artists connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music. Add to Music App takes this process a step further, creating a direct link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a music-streaming service, making it easier than ever for music fans to enjoy the full-length song on the service of their choice, thereby generating even greater value for artists and rightsholders."
"No matter where you are or the moment you’re in, we want to create less work to get to the audio you love,” said Sten Garmark, Spotify VP, global head of Consumer Experience. “That means being everywhere our users are and creating seamless ways to save songs to Spotify to enjoy when and how they choose to listen."
Karolina Joynathsing, director of business development for Amazon Music, said: “Some of the best parts of being a music lover are those serendipitous moments when you discover a new song or artist that you connect with instantly. At Amazon Music, we’re looking to make it easier to convert those moments into enduring fandom. That’s why we worked with TikTok on the Add to Music App, which makes it easier for fans to listen to the music they love and for artists to build fandom.”
