Jack Antonoff has announced a joint venture with Jamie Oborne and an exclusive agreement with UMPG.
Antonoff's band, Bleachers, have also signed with Oborne's label, U.K. indie Dirty Hit, and will be managed by Oborne, proprietor of All on Red Management. Antonoff himself will likewise be managed by Oborne. The former's pact with UMPG, meanwhile, sees him moving from Sony Music Publishing to remain with UMPG A&R exec Jennifer Knoepfle, who's played a key role in his career for more than a decade. Details on the JV are TBA.
Antonoff has rocketed into the top tier of songwriter-producers thanks to his collaborations with the likes of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Diana Ross and Lorde. In the process, he's won eight Grammys, including Producer of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
"Jack is honestly one of one," Knoepfle said. "To continue being his publisher is an honor we don’t take for granted. He’s even more creative and prolific then when I first met him over a decade ago—and that’s saying a lot.”
Bleachers' first Dirty Hit release will be Live at Radio City Music Hall, due Friday (8/25). Recorded in July 2022 during their show at Radio City Music Hall, the 21-track live album features some dude named Bruce Springsteen on the track "Chinatown."
“Very proud to be working with Jamie and his entire team," Antonoff said. "We’ve known each other for some time now and our connection has deeply inspired me. Have loved everything he's been creating and love the perspective he has on what I do. Feeling wild excitement for everything in the works and as seen in this picture, I’m ready to be driving around playing my new records and dreaming about new ideas with Jamie. Feels so special and rare to be supported like this and just very grateful our paths crossed.”
Oborne added, "Aligning myself with such talented individuals is a true inspiration, driving both my professional and personal life. I am grateful for the faith Jack has placed in me and the entire team at Dirty Hit."
Rumors that Antonoff has already turned the press release announcing the above into a five-song EP couldn't be confirmed at press time. He's likely been basking in his post-wedding glow. Antonoff and Margaret Qualley tied the knot on Long Beach Island over the weekend as Swift, Del Rey, Zoe Kravitz and Qualley's mother, actress Andie MacDowell, looked on. Our invitation, of course, was "lost" in the mail.
