Travis Scott's UTOPIA (Cactus Jack/Epic) racked up 128m streams on its opening weekend, reaching 2023 album peaks at Spotify and for the rap genre overall. On its release date, 7/28, the long-player became both Spotify and Apple Music's most-streamed album in a single day this year, and its 19 tracks claimed the first 19 berths on the former's U.S. chart.
The LP's second day of activity was likewise giant, with 79m streams on Spotify—UTOPIA's day two was bigger on the Spot than any debut for a rap album this year. It was streamed more than 330m times on the platform worldwide between 7/28 and 8/1.
What's more, the film CIRCUS MAXIMUS, directed by Scott, Gaspar Noe, Valdimar Jóhannsson, Nicolas Winding Refn, Harmony Korine and Kahlil Joseph, sold out AMC theaters in seconds, prompting thousands of screenings to be added.
It's safe to say fans are excited that the rap phenom is back. We're eyeing that UTOPIA briefcase for our tax documents and most treasured weed grinders.
