DEF JAM TUNES IN RAEDIO

Def Jam Recordings has struck a multiyear deal with Issa Rae’s Raedio, giving the “audio everywhere” company the opportunity to sign, market and distribute artists through the Def Jam network.

Raedio has label, publishing, music-supervision, music-library, podcast, digital-content and event divisions. They will combine with the film/TV production and talent-management capabilities of Ray's HOORAE Media for an all-in-one infrastructure.

“Issa Rae is one of the most talented, respected and versatile creative leaders working in entertainment today,” Def Jam Chairman and CEO Tunji Balogun said. “Her passion for artistry and authentic storytelling puts Black creators at the center of an expansive world that resonates deeply with her audience. Raedio exemplifies Issa’s savvy, strategic and forward-thinking approach to building culture and community, aligning all of her verticals into one powerful audio ecosystem.”

Raedio President Benoni Tagoe added, “Our mission at Raedio is to continually advance how and where people discover music and the opportunities for the artists behind it. Def Jam is the perfect partner to align with Raedio’s mission and vision. Together, we look forward to expanding our reach and fostering a creative home for our new artists.”

When we first heard there was a show called Insecure, we were almost certain it was a reality series about the staff of a certain music trade publication.
