Interscope braved the desert heat Saturday (4/15) for its seventh annual Coachella soirée, with Interscope Geffen A&M’s John Janick, Steve Berman, Keinon Johnson, Nicole Wyskoarko, Sam Riback and Tom March in tow. Special guests included Benny Blanco, GloRilla, Moneybagg Yo and Yo Gotti, among others.
Seen just before changing into their formal shorts for high tea are (l-r) IGA CEO Janick, GloRilla, Gotti and Interscope Vice Chairman Berman.
Interscope SVP Johnson, Geffen President of Urban A&R Aaron "Dash" Sherrod and IGA EVP/Co-Head of A&R Wyskoarko signed, like, nine acts while you were still nursing your first cocktail.
Janick, Berman and Darkroom chief Justin Lubliner try to remember their desert-survival training as they're corralled into a photo op with our own Nicole Ghapgharan. "I think we should feign death," Lubliner volunteered. "I'm pretty sure you're supposed to make yourself as tall as possible and yell," countered Berman. Fortunately, seconds after this moment was recorded for posterity, Nicole wandered off to wade in a tequila pool.
Janick assures artist Reneé Rapp that the trauma of appearing on our website subsides over time.
Wyskoarko, Interscope SVP, Head of Urban Marketing Laura A. Carter, Johnson and SVP, Head of Urban Digital Marketing Ramon Alvarez-Smikle tried to avert their eyes from the stray HITS staffer who'd gotten into the Pringles "activation." It wasn't pretty.
After sampling the very fine beverages at the event, Janick told artist-producer Blanco that he'd decided to start calling himself Johnny Reposado.
EVP/Co-Head of A&R Riback and Berman agreed that three days in the desert was pretty nice, but 40 years in the desert would be uncomfortable. Fortunately, the bread at the party was not only leavened but gluten-free.
