GODFREY-CASS TO HELP PRIMARY WAVE MAKE A SPLASH IN LONDON

Primary Wave Music has welcomed Robin Godfrey-Cass into the fold. The veteran exec will focus on catalog acquisition from his home base in London.

Larry Mestel and his team have created a formidable publishing/rights company over the years,” he said. “I'm honored and thrilled to lead the charge in the U.K. Especially right now, when the company offers so many options to rightsholders and executes across all media. I'd like to thank Larry and his executive team for giving me this mandate.”

Godfrey-Cass made history in 1985 when he assumed the post of managing director at Warner/Chappell U.K., becoming the youngest MD ever hired by a major publisher. While there, he was instrumental to signing Eric Clapton, Michael Bolton, Howard Jones, Whitesnake, Bush and Radiohead, among other top acts. In 1990, while coordinating European acquisitions for the company, he was promoted to SVP (Europe). During his reign, WCM was the #1 music publisher for 10 out of 11 years in the U.K., a feat that has yet to be duplicated.

Godfrey-Cass is also the founder of Crosstown Songs, which acquired the catalogs of Deston, Murlyn, John Reid, Palan and Neil Thrasher before being sold in 2009. He's likewise responsible for launching Crosstown Nashville with Dann Huff. In 2010, Godfrey-Cass co-founded Perfect Storm, where he enjoyed enormous success with Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" and #1 hits by DJ Snake f/Justin Bieber and Kygo f/Selena Gomez. He sold the company to Reservoir Publishing in 2017.

Prior to joining Primary Wave, Godfrey-Cass was managing director of Round Hill Carlin’s U.K. operation and on the senior management team of Round Hill Music.

To commemorate this illustrious moment, Mestel has instructed his team to purchase an array of biscuits, including Jaffa Cakes.
