GAGA, TAY, RIRI AMONG ACTS ON OSCAR SHORTLISTS

The 95th Academy Awards shortlists for Best Original Song and Best Original Score boast music by superstar acts and prominent composers.

In the former category, Lady Gaga's Grammy-nominated "Hold My Hand" from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack (Interscope) may be competing for a nod against Taylor Swift's "Carolina" (Republic/Where the Crawdads Sing); Rihanna's "Lift Me Up" (Def Jam/Black Panther: Wakanda Forever); The Weeknd's "Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)" (Republic/Avatar: The Way of Water); Selena Gomez's title track for My Mind & Me (Interscope); and songs performed by UMLE's Sebastián Yatra, RCA's Jazmine Sullivan and Epic's GIVĒON.

Gaga, Riri and Tay are also competing for Best Original Song at 1/10's Golden Globes.

Composers in the mix for Academy Awards Best Original Score honors include Babylon's Justin Hurwitz (Interscope) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Ludwig Görannson (Hollywood).

Nominations for the 2023 Academy Awards will be announced on 1/24. The Oscars will air live 3/12 on ABC.
