REPUBLIC PUTS ONE IN THE BACK OF THE NET

Just in time for the World Cup quarterfinals (and for Americans to get accustomed to using the word “nil”), Republic Records, Universal Arabic Music and Universal Music Group release the first FIFA World Cup Official Soundtrack. Its songs have already garnered more than 300m views on YouTube.

The set includes Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Myriam Fares’ “Tukoh Taka,” the first Official FIFA Fan Festival Anthem, the opening ceremony song “Dreamers” from BTSJung Kook and tracks by Lil Baby, Tears for Fears, Balqees and others.

“The strength of the FIFA World Cup as a global spectacle gives the artists on this soundtrack a fantastic platform to reach a huge audience,” said Republic CEO Monte Lipman," who's pretty sure he signed a band called Penalty Kicks back in ‘97. “The soundtrack will share the excitement of this joyous festival of football with enthusiasts across the planet and leave an inspiring legacy, not just in the Middle East but worldwide.”

Universal Arab Music founder and CEO Wassim "Sal" Slaiby said: “It's a triumph and a true milestone for football and music and by bringing together such a diverse range of artists and genres from across the globe, the track list celebrates the unity and unique atmosphere of the FIFA World Cup. Now, excuse me while I practice shouting 'goooooooaallll!!!'"
