Halsey and Blizzard Entertainment joined forces 12/8 to unveil the release date of Diablo IV during The Game Awards at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater. The action role-playing game and one of its characters, Lilith, have long served as an inspiration for the Capitol artist—she performed her 2021 single "Lilith" from If I Can't Have Love I Want Power at the event.
"As soon as Diablo IV was announced, I knew I wanted to be part of the lead-up and launch," she explained. "Lilith is such an influence on my own art and has informed so many characteristics of my alter-ego. My family has spent many hours together in Sanctuary over the years, so I'm here as a fan as well as a collaborator." (Also known as the Mortal Realm, Sanctuary is the primary setting for the Diablo series.)
Halsey added that she and Blizzard Entertainment have more "in store," suggesting the partnership has only just begun.
“It’s so exciting to collaborate with a talented artist who's loved Diablo for years, and we can’t wait to continue working with Halsey to support the launch of Diablo IV,” said Diablo GM Rod Fergusson. “Together, Halsey and the Diablo team will bring the relentless battle between angels and demons to the world as they invite everyone to join us in the most brutal vision of Sanctuary to date.”
Serving as the next generation of Sanctuary, Diablo IV will be available on Sony PlayStation5 and Xbox One on 6/6. While one more six certainly would've been on brand, Halsey's performance of "Lilith" set a requisitely fiery tone. Watch it below.
