UMPG GOES CHEEK TO CHEEK WITH IRVING BERLIN

The catalog of Irving Berlin is steppin’ out with Universal Music Publishing Group, and the man who wrote “Anything you can do, I can do better” now has a TikTok page.

The deal builds on UMPG’s existing relationship with Berlin’s estate; the company has served as his catalog administrator outside the U.S. since 2012.

UMPG will also act as representative for the Berlin estate’s brand and social-marketing efforts. It's launched dedicated social channels including a Tik Tok page to support Berlin’s songbook and legacy.

The global publishing giant has likewise created a film and TV industry site showcasing Berlin’s catalog. It uses themed playlists and tagging to allow sync clients to more easily source Berlin songs to meet their audiovisual needs.

Said UMPG President of North America Evan Lamberg, “It doesn’t get any better than having the honor of representing the timeless songs of Irving Berlin and working with the wonderful Berlin family and estate."

Berlin composed more than 1,500 songs over the course of his 60-year career, including those of 19 Broadway shows and 18 Hollywood musicals. Beyond the evergreens “White Christmas” and “God Bless America,” Berlin’s songs include “Anything You Can Do,” “Blue Skies,” “Let’s Face the Music and Dance,” “Puttin’ On the Ritz,” “Steppin’ Out With My Baby” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.” He enjoyed his first hit, “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” in 1911.

“The family of Irving Berlin enthusiastically welcomes the expansion of its 10-year relationship with Universal Music Publishing Group and looks forward to its continued collaboration with the exclusive global music publisher of Irving Berlin’s extensive catalog,” said Mary Campbell of J.P. Morgan on behalf of the legendary songwriter’s estate.
