WMG & OPENSEA CAST A WIDER WEB

Warner Music Group and peer-to-peer NFT marketplace OpenSea have partnered on a new platform for select WMG artists to build and extend their fan communities in Web3. The first collection is in development with Warner Records U.K. in collaboration with Web3 company Probably Nothing.

The goal is to help WMG acts amass new Web3 fan cohorts while introducing existing fans to NFT-related opportunities.

As part of the venture, WMG artists will get early access to OpenSea’s latest products, along with improved "discoverability," personalized storytelling on customized landing pages and OpenSea’s safety and security features. They will also have their own dedicated drop page for hosting limited-edition projects, including opportunities for fans to engage with music and artists.

Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development Oana Ruxandra explained, “Fundamental to music’s DNA is community—artists and fans coming together to celebrate the music they love. Our collaboration with OpenSea helps to facilitate these communities by unlocking Web3 tools and resources to build opportunities for artists to establish deeper engagement, access and ownership.”

Meanwhile, we're still trying to figure out what Web3 is. Speaking of "probably nothing," if you read this story while wearing VR goggles, you can see one HITS editor ordering a sandwich and another taking a nap.
