AUDIOMACK UPS JOHNSON TO SVP

Jason Johnson has been promoted to SVP of marketing and brand strategy at Audiomack, where he'll continue expansion efforts in Africa and lead the company's growth strategy in North America.

Under Johnson's leadership of the Audiomack Africa team, the brand became the top-ranked streaming app on Apple’s iOS in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal and Kenya. In April it became the #1 overall iOS app in Nigeria, averaging more than 2.5b monthly Afrobeats streams per month and besting WhatsApp, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube and Gmail.

“Jason has two of the most valuable tools of a marketer and brand strategist: tireless work ethic and an adroit understanding of what really matters to artists and music fans in 2022,” said Audiomack co-founder and CMO David Ponte. “These skills, combined with deft leadership, have been instrumental to Audiomack’s rapid growth on the African continent and around the globe.”

Johnson joined Audiomack in 2018 as a senior marketing consultant and helped launch the #UPNOW artist-development platform. He's formulated marketing initiatives to aid the international growth of Afrobeats artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Fireboy DML and Davido. In so doing, he's particularly enjoyed traveling far away from us.
