FANS PAY TRIBUTE TO ONJ AT iTUNES

The top iTunes charts are, at present, primarily a celebration of Olivia Newton-John. The beloved pop singer, actress and advocate, who died on 8/8, occupies seven of the Top 10 spots on the singles side and has five of the Top 10 albums.

The Grease soundtrack, which (along with the smash film) helped catapult Newton-John to megastardom, is driving much of the activity; it tops the album chart, while the sweet ballad “Hopelessly Devoted to You” is the #1 song and the rowdy John Travolta duet “You’re the One That I Want” sits at #4.

Another soundtrack from a film that showcased the Aussie performer’s abundant charisma, the musical fantasia Xanadu, is the #4 album; Olivia’s Live Hits, If You Love Me, Let Me Know and Physical (Deluxe Edition) also dot the album leaderboard.

At singles, “Let Me Be There,” “Physical” “Have You Never Been Mellow” and “I Honestly Love You” also occupy the Top 10.

Indeed, with Kate Bush’s Stranger Things-driven “Running Up That Hill” dug into the Top 10 as well, only two cuts on the singles side—Benny Blanco’s "Bad Decisions" f/BTS and Snoop Dogg and Blake Milligan’s “Kiss Goodbye All Night”—are from the 21st century.

What will the activity of these “hopelessly devoted” fans add up to? Stay tuned.
