ADA BRINGS BACK PRODIGY'S MUSIC

The solo music catalog of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy returns to DSPs and digital merchants today—after a three-year absence—courtesy of a deal between his estate and Warner Music Group’s ADA.

2000's H.N.I.C. and 2012's The Bumpy Johnson Album, for instance, are now available for streaming and purchase. Spotify will launch a Fans First activation that offers access to exclusive merchandise.

Prodigy died in 2017 of complications from sickle cell disease at age 42. That year he released the first album, The Book of Revelation, in a planned trilogy called The Hegelian Dialectic. He left behind a library of unreleased music that will finally become available starting with the second installment of the triad, The Book of Heroine, which will be released later this year. A new single, “You Will See,” off that record comes out 6/10. The final album, The Hegelian Dialectic: The Book of the Dead, will be issued in 2023. A new set by Mobb Deep is currently in the works as well.

“Prodigy is a once-in-a-generation rapper,” ADA Worldwide President Cat Kreidich said. “It’s hard to put into words the impact he had on the world—his sound completely changed the game and influenced so many that came after him. His legacy will live on forever through his music, and we’re grateful his estate has entrusted ADA to bring his catalog back where it belongs—with his fans.”

L. Londell McMillan of The NorthStar Group is managing the Prodigy's estate and struck the deal with ADA.
