PHARRELL BRINGS SITW TO THE CAPITAL ON JUNETEENTH WEEKEND

Pharrell's Something in the Water festival, which debuted in Virginia Beach in 2019, is returning after a two-year hiatus. The 2022 SITW fest will continue to serve the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area, taking place in the nation's capital this year over Juneteenth weekend (6/17-19).

SITW will celebrate art, culture and music with performances by Tyler, The Creator, Dave Matthews Band, Calvin Harris, Usher, Lil Baby, Jon Batiste, Chloe x Halle, Ashanti & Ja Rule, Dominic Fike, Skepta, Thundercat, Moneybagg Yo, Pusha T and more.

This year the festivities will be expanded to three stages, situated in the heart of Washington D.C. on Independence Ave. and adjacent streets.

In 2020 Pharrell led a campaign to convince his home state of Virginia to recognize Juneteenth (6/19) as a paid holiday. The movement was so powerful that the momentum made it to the White House, inspiring President Biden to declare Juneteenth a national holiday.

XQ Institute will join the 2022 iteration of SITW to host interactive, community-centered events highlighting its emerging partnership with the D.C. public schools and to commemorate the class of '22 nationally.

Sunday will feature the return of the Pop-Up Church Service on a stage in West Potomac Park, home of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The lineup for this free event will be announced soon.
