HIS TIME IN
THE DESERT

Interscope’s sixth annual Coachella party, outfitted with top-shelf food and drink and even “wellness activations by Alo Yoga,” per the PR, drew an array of superstar artists, major execs and cultural influencers to an undisclosed location in Palm Springs. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t undisclosed enough to keep out HITS Features Editor Nicole Ghapgharan, who managed to persuade IGA boss John Janick to join her for this photo op. As this pic was being captured for eternity—and it was certainly an eternity for John—Nicole discussed some of the music she enjoys most. “I used to be really into progressive Kawaii house, and then I got really into half-dub chiptune powerstomp,” she explained. “But now I mostly just listen to Argentina Frenchcore.” Janick noted that he found this uniquely fascinating but regrettably had to attend to an activation or something.

"I think someone from HITS got into this party," says Interscope EVP/Co-Head of A&R Nicole Wyskoarko, noting the one thing that could harsh the buzz of such a pleasant gathering. "Not to worry," said ace attorney John Ingram. "I keep a cease-and-desist on my phone."

IGA Co-Head of A&R Sam Riback and Interscope Head of Strategic Marketing Daniel Sena join artist Carly Rae Jepsen for a moment that practically screams “creativity” and “engagement” while simultaneously whispering “SPF 500 sunblock.”

Janick, Riback and manager Danny Rukasin cozy up for a photo op with promising newcomer Role Model. Later, everyone agreed that this moment was even more piquant as a TikTok video.
