GOODBYE HARRY POTTER, HELLO ABBA

Björn Ulvaeus Pophouse Entertainment, which aims to expand the ABBA brand, among others, has tapped James McKnight to develop large-scale entertainment projects for its properties. McKnight spent the last seven years in the Harry Potter universe.

In his role as Pophouse’s Head of Entertainment Research & Development, McKnight will expand the company’s projects with brands such as Swedish House Mafia and shepherd the company's investments in IP.

McKnight is based in London, where he will open a Pophouse office in May, when ABBA Voyage, the show Pophouse is backing and co-developing in a 3,000-seat bespoke arena, premieres.

“As everyone who has met James can attest, he is a creative force and an incredibly inspiring person with an immense passion for storytelling and entertainment,” Pophouse CEO Per Sundin said. “His strong track record of developing global IP rights and leading creative teams makes him a great fit for us, matching the ambition and scale with which we’re building Pophouse.”

McKnight spent the last seven years at The Blair Partnership, the literary, entertainment and franchise management agency that represents J.K. Rowling and her work. As Chief Creative Officer and Partner for the last five years, McKnight and his team were responsible for managing the Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and Wizarding World franchises.
