FUTURE SHOCK, ER, TOK

Well, it’s finally happened. We’re not sure what, exactly, but it’s finally happened.

Impresario extraordinaire Simon Fuller is rolling out The Future X, touted as “a first-of-its-kind pop group,” made up of seven performers (three singers, four dancers) discovered on TikTok. They’ve inked to Columbia. The release date of their debut single, “This Kind of Love,” is TBA. Here's a video of them being fabulous.

The comely septet was assembled after a five-week talent competition on TikTok using the hashtag #NextInMusic. Per their assembly instructions, erm, press announcement, they are now “living and working together in their Malibu compound,” buried deep in the earth and said to impervious to a nuclear blast. They are slated to join Now United’s sold-out arena tour of Brazil in March.

As part of this all-in effort by earth’s scientists to preserve a pulchritudinous and diverse sampling of human pop personalities before the glaciers melt, a further TikTok search is underway, sponsored by e.l.f. Beauty, to locate aspiring makeup artists capable of further adorning the already blinding visages of The Future X’s seven beauties. Talk about brand synergy! Talk about cross-platform interoperability! Talk about #HashtagImplementation!

“We've spent a year working in partnership with TikTok to find the best talent on their platform, and I am thrilled with the resulting group,” reads a quote from Fuller. “The Future X combines everything that is exciting about contemporary young artists: authenticity, confidence, empowerment and a unique balance between extraordinary dancers and iconic singers.”

Exclaimed TikTok Global Head of Music Ole Obermann, “Simon and his team are always at the forefront of music and cultural trends, and we’re delighted that they’ve worked with TikTok to find exciting new talent in this way. TikTok is where new music creators and artists are finding their voice, sharing their creativity and inspiring others to do the same—so it feels right that The Future X has come together from emerging TikTok talent. We can’t wait to see what the group achieves and are excited for the community to be sharing in their journey, and of course their music, through their presence on TikTok.”

You’ll naturally want to park your browser here to follow the group’s authentic, iconic odyssey.
