TEDDY RIDES
THE WAVE

Primary Wave Music has partnered with the estate of Teddy Pendergrass, continuing a long-term arrangement to manage his assets.

PW has acquired a stake in the singer’s publishing, recording-income stream and name and likeness in the multimillion-dollar deal, which covers some of the singer's most significant hits—“Love T.K.O.,” “You’re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration,” “When Somebody Loves You Back” and “Close the Door.”

“I believe working with Primary Wave is just what the estate needs to help showcase Teddy’s rich legacy,” said his widow, Joan Pendergrass. “It’s essential that people know all he’s done, what he’s contributed to the music industry and as a humanitarian. After his debilitating car accident, he withstood many personal challenges and, throughout the later part of his life, became an advocate for people with spinal cord injuries. I’m excited to see what this partnership brings to amplifying my husband's story and showcasing the impact he had on multiple generations.”

Said Steven Greener, Partner at Primary Wave Music and a longtime Pendergrass fan, “Teddy has one of the most iconic voices in the history of music and his songs are timeless. I'm thrilled that Primary Wave has partnered with the estate and look forward to working with them to ensure that Teddy's legacy lives on.”

Pendergrass, who first scored hits as lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, died in 2010 at the age of 59.
