U.K. CHARTS: ABBA SPEEDS TO #1

ABBA’s Voyage (Polar) is the U.K.'s fastest-selling album of 2021, shifting 204k copies to hit #1 on the Official Albums Chart. Over on singles, Adele remains on top.

ABBA's 10th #1 and first studio effort to top the chart in 40 years, Voyage is also enjoying the biggest opening week since the arrival of Ed Sheeran’s Divide (Atlantic) in 2017. Of the 204k total, 90% is physical sales, including 29.9k on vinyl, which makes Voyage the fastest-selling vinyl release of the century.

Elsewhere on the albums chart, James Arthur debuts at #3 with It’ll All Make Sense in the End (Columbia). Radiohead’s Kid A Mnesia (XL) is new at #4, and Summer Walker’s Still Over It (LVRN/Interscope) is #5. Diana RossThank You (Decca) is also new at #7, and Gregory Porter’s greatest hits, Still Rising: The Collection (Decca), finishes at #8.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Adele’s “Easy on Me” (Columbia) scores a fourth consecutive week at #1. Sheeran’s “Shivers” (Atlantic) sits just 2k in sales behind, at #2. Highest-new-entry honors this week go to Brighton rapper Arrdee, with “Flowers (Say My Name)” (Island) at #5.

Outside the Top 10, SwitchOTR f/A1 x J1’s “Coming for You” (Sony) rises six places to a new peak of #14 as Clean Bandit & Topic f/Wes Nelson’s “Drive” (Atlantic) jumps nine to reach a new apex of #17. Joel Corry & Mabel’s “I Wish” (Atlantic) also reaches new heights this week, up four to #19. New at #20 is Post Malone & The Weeknd’s “One Right Now” (Island).
