Lil Nas X is leading a significant parade of new releases this Flipover Friday as his much-anticipated MONTERO (Columbia) takes the top slot at iTunes and is #3 at Apple Music.
On the streaming side, “Scoop” f/Doja Cat and new single “That’s What I Want” are the freshly released songs that are starting to work their way up the songs chart.
Back at iTunes, the top 18 slots are filled with new arrivals.
The debut from Canadian alt-metal band Spiritbox, Eternal Blue (Pale Chord/Rise), opens at #2, followed by Daughtry’s Dearly Beloved (Dogtree) at #3. He’s not the only American Idol alum with a new one out today: Scotty McCreery has Same Truck (Triple Tigers) parked at #5.
Thrice’s Horizons/East (Epitaph) is #4; Billy Idol’s first album since 2014, The Roadside EP (BFI/Dark Horse/BMG), drives into slot #6.
Carly Pearce’s expanded version of her last EP, 29: Written in Stone (BMLG), notches #7. A single from the album, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde, is #9 at iTunes songs.
Jelly Roll’s Ballads of the Broken (This Is Hit) cracks the Top 10 at #8; Lindsey Buckingham’s self-titled Reprise release secures #9; and Cynthia Erivo's Ch. 1 Vs. 1 (Verve) rounds out the Top 10.
New arrivals occupying slots 11 through 18 come from Melissa Etheridge, NCT 127, the 16th volume of Bob Dylan’s Bootleg Series, 2Cellos, Laine Hardy, Candlebox, Carcass and Jose Gonzalez.
At Apple Music, Tems’ EP, If Orange Was a Place (Since '93/RCA), is #12 following its Tuesday release.
Three self-released singles from country acts are in the Top 10 at iTunes songs: Spencer Crandall’s “Made”; Britnee Kellogg’s “Hey Mama”; and Alexandra Kay’s “Tall Boys.”
