L.A. COUNTY TO MANDATE MASKS AT BIG OUTDOOR EVENTS

In yet another Delta-triggered stipulation, L.A. County will require all attendees of outdoor events with crowds of 10k or more to mask up, whether vaccinated or not. The new order, which encompasses concerts, festivals and games at venues including Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium, the Coliseum,and the Hollywood Bowl, goes into effect at 11:59pm tonight.

As the L.A. Times noted, there was no mention of the forthcoming order in the COVID-19 update the Department of Public Health issued Monday. But city and county officials have consistently recommended that residents consider wearing masks in crowded situations, exercising what L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer described last week as “common-sense precautions.”

In other news, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has imposed bans on mask and vaccine mandates, has tested positive for COVID-19. He’d been vaxxed, by the way.
