A "FAMOUS FRIENDS" GATHERING

Chris Young and Kane Brown are marking new milestones for their hit duet, “Famous Friends.” After spending multiple weeks atop the Country Aircheck chart, the track has earned gold certification. The pair celebrated their new plaque at Sony Music Nashville’s Capstar Tower.

The track likewise hit #1 on the Country radio chart—having spent eight weeks in the Top 5—and took home a CMT Award for Collaborative Video of the Year.

“I’m really, really proud of this song and had no idea it was going to blow up like it did,” said Young. “And I couldn’t be happier that I get to have a hit on the radio with someone who’s been a friend of mine for a long time.”

“It’s a full circle moment for me,” Brown said to his RCA Nashville labelmate. “You inspired me to get into music, and we actually got to take this one to No. 1.”

Young also received a triple-platinum plaque for “I’m Comin’ Over” and a gold plaque for his album Losing Sleep, which includes the platinum #1 “Hangin’ On.”

For his part, SMN Chairman/CEO Randy Goodman said to Young, “It’s amazing what’s happened this past year and the music you’ve delivered. We’re so proud of you, and the success you’ve had with Kane on ‘Famous Friends’ makes this a very sweet moment.”

With nearly 5b career streams and 12 #1 singles under his belt, Young is gearing up to release his eighth studio album, also called Famous Friends, on 8/6 ahead of his Famous Friends Tour 2021. The 14-song set also features collaborations with Mitchell Tenpenny and Lauren Alaina, as well as contributions from Sarah Buxton and Hillary Lindsey.
