GLOBAL CITIZEN CONCERT PUSHES FOR VACCINES

Selena Gomez will host Global Citizen’s VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World, which will feature performances by Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, H.E.R. and others on 5/8.

Broadcast and streamed in the U.S. on ABC, ABC News Live, CBS, YouTube, iHeartMedia radio stations and the iHeartRadio App beginning at 8pm ET, the special will call on philanthropists and corporations to donate enough “dollars-for-doses” to vaccinate more than 27m health workers in the world’s poorest countries. The special will also encourage global development advocates and changemakers to call on world leaders to prioritize the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The concert will also air on Fox at 11pm ET/PT.

“There is a light at the end of this tunnel, but getting vaccines to everyone, everywhere regardless of who they are or where they are from, is key to ensuring the end of this pandemic around the world,” said Hugh Evans, Global Citizen Co-Founder & CEO. “We must all unite to get back on track to eradicating extreme poverty.”

Live Nation, Global Citizen, iHeartMedia, the Ad Council & COVID Collaborative, YouTube Originals and Teneo are producing the concert. VAX LIVE is hosted by the state of California, and will highlight the large-scale vaccination site on the grounds of SoFi Stadium.

Casey Patterson and Ken Ehrlich are executive producing the VAX LIVE; producers include UMG’s Michele Anthony, Live Nation’s Michael Rapino, iHeartMedia’s John Sykes and Tom Poleman, CAA’s Rob Light and Amanda Silverman of The Lede Company.
