The Academy of Country Music is "halting" Morgan Wallen's involvement in and eligibility for the upcoming ACM Awards. It's the latest reaction from the country-music community to the video of Wallen using a racial slur. Big Loud has suspended his contract. Meanwhile, reports are circulating that Wallen has dropped by agency WME.
It actually IS representative of our town because this isn’t his first “scuffle” and he just demolished a huge streaming record last month regardless. We all know it wasn’t his first time using that word. We keep them rich and protected at all costs with no recourse.

When I read comments saying “this is not who we are” I laugh because this is exactly who country music is. I’ve witnessed it for 10 gd years. You guys should just read some of the vile comments hurled at me on a daily basis. It’s a cold hard truth to face but it is the truth. pic.twitter.com/l3h18Z1ARU

And lastly, I do not believe in cancel culture. Watching anyone fall from grace is a terrible thing to see. People must all be given a chance to change. Morgan must feel the weight of his words but completely throwing someone away is detrimental to anyone’s mental health.

now let’s see Wallen’s label @BigLoud drop his ass. also, to those of y’all mad at me for sharing photos of Luke Combs with a confederate flag instead of being angry at him, it’s time to re-evaluate. we can’t let this toxic, racist behavior go unchecked. https://t.co/5yV6QWufKK

Wallen’s behavior is disgusting and horrifying. I think this is an opportunity for the country music industry to give that spot to somebody who deserves it, and there are lots of black artists who deserve it. https://t.co/14B77zLgMR

After learning of Morgan Wallen’s racial slur late last night, we are in the process of removing his appearances from all our platforms. We do not tolerate or condone words and actions that are in direct opposition to our core values that celebrate diversity, equity & inclusion.
