FX TAKES TO THE STREETS FOR HIP-HOP DOC SERIES

A six-part FX documentary will examine the street culture that gave rise to rap; Hip Hop Uncovered, from executive producer Malcolm Spellman, debuts on 2/12.

The series will highlight the stories of Eugene “Big U” Henley (who worked with Nipsey Hussle); Deb Antney (mother of Waka Flocka Flame); James “Bimmy” Antney (LL Cool J and Slick Rick); Christian “Trick Trick” Mathis (founder of Good Sqwad); and Jacques “Haitian Jack” Agnant (Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G.). Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are among the talking heads featured.

Besides Spellman (Empire) and Henley, Hip Hop Uncovered is executive produced by Lightbox’s Jonathan Chinn and Simon Chinn (Whitney) along with Rashidi Natara Harper, Jimmy “JimBob” Chris, Douglas Banker and BJ Levin, and is co-executive produced by Stephen Neely. Lightbox produced Whitney and the upcoming Tina Turner doc.
