Ariana Grande has to like the position she finds herself in this Flipover Friday; her latest Republic full-length is #1 at iTunes and #2 at Apple Music while six of the album’s songs are in the Top 20 on the streaming side.
Grande’s Positions is her sixth album, the follow-up to 2019’s Thank U, Next. Led at Apple Music by the title track, “34+35," “shut up” and three other cuts are charging into the Top 20.
Keeping Ari out of the top slot of the streaming chart is Trippie Redd’s Pegasus (1400/TenThousand Projects), which is #14 at iTunes.
Four other new arrivals are in the Top 10 at iTunes and the Top 25 at Apple Music: Sam Smith’s third album, Love Goes (Capitol), is #2 in sales and #22 in streams; Busta Rhymes’ Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God (Conglomerate/Empire), a sequel to his 1998 album, is #3 at iTunes and #20 at Apple Music; the debut from R&B singer Queen Naija, misunderstood (Capitol), is Top 10 on both sides—#7 at iTunes and #5 at Apple Music—as is Wizkid’s Made in Lagos (Starboy/RCA), at #9 and #7.
Two holiday releases open in the Top 10 at iTunes—For KING & COUNTRY’s A Drummer Boy Christmas (Curb/Word) at #6 and Meghan Trainor’s A Very Trainor Christmas (Honest OG/Epic) at #8.
Two hard-rock albums occupy the middle of iTunes’ Top 10, Bring Me the Horizon’s Post Human: Survival Horror (Columbia) at #4 and Puscifer’s Existential Reckoning (Alchemy/BMG) at #5, while Cam’s second album, The Otherside (Triple Tigers/RCA), rounds out the big 10.
At iTunes songs, the lone new title in the Top 10 is K/DA, Madison Beer & (G)I-DLE’s “More” (Riot Games), at #6.
