CBS TO AIR CONCERT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

PLAY ON: Celebrating the Power of Music to Make Change, a benefit concert supporting racial, social and food justice featuring Gary Clark Jr., Maren Morris and Bon Jovi, among other performers, will air 12/5 on CBS.

The hour-long special, shot in L.A., New York and Nashville, will raise funds for the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund and WhyHunger through the Play on Fund created by SixDegrees.Org. Viewers can donate to these organizations during the broadcast by texting "PLAYON" to 44-321.

The show will present a tribute to the roots of hip-hop featuring Slick Rick and Snoop Dogg performing at the Troubadour, Jon Batiste and Machine Gun Kelly hitting the stage at the Apollo Theater and Morris, Sheryl Crow and Yola with The Highwomen playing at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.

Kevin Bacon and Eve will co-host the extravaganza, which is being executive produced by Bacon, John Varvatos, LL Cool J, Anthony Mason, Greg Williamson and Nicole Rechter. Steve Jordan will serve as music director.

“Music has historically served as a powerful and vital soundtrack for social change and a platform to unite people and make an impact for those in need,” Varvatos said. “By bringing together this outstanding array of performers, we hope to raise awareness and funding for the very important work that both the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund and WhyHunger do every day and inspire viewers to continue to support these organizations.”
