JACOBSON: ALL GOOD WITH HALLWOOD

Neil Jacobson, who exited IGA as Geffen President last year, is now unveiling his new chapter—Hallwood Media, LLC. The entity is spun off from the Interscope Producer Management division, which Jacobson launched seven years ago, as part of his departure from Geffen. He’s joined at the new company by clients Jeff Bhasker, Emile Haynie, King Henry, Bipolar Sunshine, Alex Salibian, Beach Noise and Brendan O’Brien.

He repped Bhasker, Haynie and O’Brien in their, um, quite remunerative catalog sales to Merck MercuriadisHipgnosis; a division of Hallwood Media is dedicated to such deals.

Jacobson is also trumpeting his first hire: Nathan Olivas as SVP of A&R/Management. Olivas previously did A&R at Diplo’s Mad Decent Publishing; he’s accompanied in his move to Hallwood by clients Phil Scully (Diplo, ZAYN) and Jim-E Stack (Bon Iver, Kacy Hill), among others. “I’ve been trying to hire Nathan for years,” Jacobson says. “From the day I met him it was glaringly obvious he was a star.”

He adds, “Speaking of things that are glaringly obvious, HITS sucks more than ever.”

In this classic flashback shot, Jimmy Iovine explains to Jacobson that tea bestows extraordinary cognitive and regenerative properties and can get you high as fuck.
