Rapper Pop Smoke was murdered at his Hollywood home during an early morning robbery. He was 20.
TMZ broke the news, reporting that two men broke into Pop Smoke’s home around 4:30am and fired multiple shots. He was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Born Bashar Barakah Jackson in Brooklyn, he was signed to Victor Victor/Republic, which released two of his mixtapes, Meet the Woo, which included his breakthrough “Welcome to the Party,” and Meet the Woo 2. Released 2/7, Meet the Woo 2 debuted at #7 with 34k sales.
He appeared on several other artist’s tracks, most notably "Gatti" on Travis Scott's Jackboys.
Republic issued a statement: “We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of Pop Smoke. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together.”
