KANYE STATUE TO BE UNVEILED THIS WEEK

Designer and artist David Weeks NYC has partnered with Sneakertopia and songwriter/actor/umbrella-valet Fonzworth Bently to unveil a five-foot tall bust statue of Kanye West entitled North South East West.

Weeks, known for his broken skateboard aesthetic, uses his artwork as a vessel to tackle social injustices such as homelessness. With this new series, Modern Day Mount Rushmore, he seeks to bring awareness to cultural icons within the African American community who've helped shape the culture and provide a blueprint for success and advocacy.

North South East West is the first statue of the series, featuring the four emotions of Kanye. The sculpture will be housed inside Sneakertopia, Los Angeles for 30 days of public viewing, and a private unveiling facilitated by Bently will be held there1/24 from 7-10pm.

In addition to the unveiling, guests can interact with an immersive 360 photo booth, gaze through additional artwork that will feature variations of the NSEWest statue, and listen to a live DJ. Adjacent to the sculpture will be the NSEWest pop-up shop, where guests can purchase their own take-home mini statue and shop exclusive merchandise.

Reports that a separate sculpture of Ye's body, reminiscent of Michelangelo's David, will appear outside Staples Center this week were unverified at presstime.
