ELTON, RANDY SCORE OSCAR NOMS

Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s song from Rocketman, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” follows its Golden Globe win with an Oscar nomination this morning. Randy Newman (pictured) secured two noms.

The Oscars went all in on Disney films in the Original Song category, giving three of the five noms to pics from the Mouse House—Newman’s “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” from Toy Story 4, Aladdin’s “Speechless” by eight-time winner Alan Menken and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez’s “Into The Unknown” from Frozen II.

Diane Warren secured her 11th nom with “I’m Standing With You” from Breakthrough and Best Actress nominee Cynthia Erivo is in the category for co-writing “Stand Up” with Joshuah Brian Campbell for Harriet.

Composer John Williams received his 49th nomination, getting the nod for Stars Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Other contenders for the Original Score trophy are Randy Newman (Marriage Story), Golden Globe winner Hildur Gudnadottir (Joker), Alexander Desplat (Little Women), and Thomas Newman (1917).

The 92nd Oscars will be held on 2/9 at the Dolby Theatre.
