ALLEE WILLIS,
1947-2019

Award-winning songwriter Allee Willis died on 12/24, she was 72. Willis was a Detroit native who wrote many hits, including Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" and "Boogie Wonderland," and The Rembrandts' "I'll Be There For You" which was the Emmy-nominated theme from TV show Friends.

A prolific writer from the mid-1970's through present day, Willis won two Grammys, for her work on the Broadway show The Color Purple and on the film soundtrack for Beverly Hills Cop, and in 2018 was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

"You will be missed my friend," wrote Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire on Twitter. "Until we meet again. Love and Light."
