Brandy hit #1 at Urban AC earlier this year with “Love Again” (eOne/Brand Nu), a collaboration with Daniel Caesar, which has tallied nearly 30m streams on Spotify. The song has brought the veteran artist and actress a nomination for Best R&B Performance, her first since 2005. She’s now been nominated a dozen times, winning once in 1999 for R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for her breakthrough hit “The Boy Is Mine” with Monica.
“Love Again,” which appeared on Caesar’s 2019 LP, CASE STUDY 01, was produced by Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett, who were also co-writers, along with Brandy. The song will also be included on her forth-coming seventh studio album, due out in 2020. Her most recent release from that forthcoming LP is the single “Freedom Rings,” co-written and co-produced by Ryan Tedder.
“I sing from my soul,” says Brandy, who recently signed with Maverick for management. “To be recognized by the Recording Academy is humbling, mind-blowing and a true confirmation to keep expressing myself through this beautiful art we call music.”
Brandy has appeared on Moesha, Brandy: Special Delivery, America’s Got Talent, Dancing With the Stars, Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business, The Game and, most recently, the Fox TV show Star. She’s sold more than 40m records worldwide, and 10m in the U.S., making her one of the best-selling female artists of all time.
