BIBLE ALBUM CHART GOES DOWN THE TUBE

The devaluing of an album gets yet another stamp of approval from the Bible, which will start allowing YouTube streams count toward its Billboard 200 album chart.

Video and audio data from YouTube will be added to the metrics for the chart beginning with the charts dated 1/18 that track the 1/3-9 sales period.

Expect to see novelty songs—the ones that kids push the replay button on over and over—to bolster the “consumption” of an album. Driven by a single video hit, albums will suddenly skyrocket up the album chart and push out the already struggling titles from country and rock acts whose albums are more likely to be consumed several songs at a time.
