U.K. CHARTS: RIDINGS ON THE RISE

British artist Freya Ridings has the highest new entry on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart today with her self-titled debut (Good Soldier) finishing at #3. Ed Sheeran is still selling strong at #1 while Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello rise back to the top of singles.

Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project (Atlantic) has outsold the entire Top 5 to remain at #1 for a second week. Across the last seven days, the album shifted almost as many physical units as it did digital and streaming, with the former taking a 41% share. Ridings, signed to Capitol in the U.S., had the most digital downloads of the week.

Thom Yorke’s Anima (XL) has risen to #5 following its arrival on physical, having previously peaked at #50 on digital sales only.

Further down, Swedish power metal band Sabaton earn their highest charting record to date with The Great War (Nuclear Blast) at #11, and Shakespears Sister’s Singles Party (1988-2019) (London Music Stream) charts at #13.

On the Official Singles Chart, Mendes and Cabello’s “Senorita” (Virgin EMI/Syco) claims a second non-consecutive week at #1 on 68k combined sales. That number includes 9.2k downloads and 8m streams.

Boosted by the new remix with Bieber, Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” (Polydor) rises to #5 from #16.

Sam Smith scores this week's highest new entry with “How Do You Sleep?” (Capitol) at #12, and Ridings' “Castles” rises eight places to #18 following the release of her album.
