MICHAEL JACKSON ESTATE VS. HBO

The Michael Jackson Estate has filed a lawsuit against HBO for a non-disparagement contract breach, in response to thecable network's acquisition of and intent to air the documentary Leaving Neverland. They're seeking damages possibly exceeding $100m.

The doc revolves around two men who are alleged to have been sexual-abuse victims of Jackson as children.

According to the MJ Estate's suit, HBO's agreement to run Michael Jackson in Concert in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour in 1992 included a non-disparagement agreement.

HBO has issued a statement in response to the suit:

"Despite the desperate lengths taken to undermine the film, our plans remain unchanged. HBO will move forward with the airing of Leaving Neverland, the two-part documentary, on March 3 and 4. This will allow everyone the opportunity to assess the film and the claims in it for themselves."

Leaving Neverland premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, immediately met with disapproval and criticism from the Jackson family and Estate.
