R.I.P. MICHAEL HAYES

We’re mourning the loss of a beloved member of the radio community, Michael Hayes, who succumbed to cancer last weekend.

HIs career took him to such destinations as KMYI/San Diego, KKRZ/Portland, WKST/Pittsburgh, WINK/Ft. Myers-Naples, KJMN/Denver and Q102/Philadelphia, among others.

In 2016 Michael became Executive Director of Pacifica Memory Care in Ft. Myers, aiding people with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

“Michael was both a terrific friend, and an amazing ‘#2’ in Denver to me,” remembers Mark Feather. “It started when I wrapped the antenna of my boom box in York, PA in tin foil so I could pull in Q102 in Philly when Michael was ruling there, as "Boomer." When later I would be in a position to hire anyone I wanted for KS-104 in Denver, Michael was the first person I tracked down.”

His girlfriend, Maria Otero, with whom he's pictured above, shared these words on Facebook: “To those of you who knew him or had the opportunity or blessing to be his friend, coworker, boss, buddy or just cross his path, please remember how funny and goofy he was and what an amazing human being he was.”
