NOISEMAKERS

The industry folk showcased here haven’t appeared often in our publication—and after this mortifying experience, they probably hope they never will again.

In any event, meet another batch of professionals from different parts of the biz whose dedication and effort make their superiors look good.

Audrey A. Benoualid

Attorney, Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light LLP

Once a professional hip-hop dancer, Benoualid is skilled at making tough moves in more ways than one. She notably negotiated and papered Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman Tour-related agreements, and looks back fondly at flying to the world tour’s first show. After the devastating attack during Ariana’s Manchester show, her firm handled all legal aspects of the One Love Manchester benefit concert; the show was mounted in less than two weeks. She says the solidarity and strength she witnessed during that time was inspirational.

Malik Rasheed

SVP of A&R, SB Projects

When he’s not cheering on the Duke Blue Devils, Rasheed is putting everything behind his acts on the recording side of SB Projects. He swears that Boi-1da’s album is “fucking incredible.” As for Social House, he strongly believes their forthcoming EP is going to catch people by surprise, thanks to an eclectic pallet that is front and center in the writer/producers’ music. Then there’s Jake Herring, who’s still celebrating his shiny new deal.

Charley Greenberg

Managing Partner, 740 Project

Greenberg’s still flying high as a result of the Eagles winning this year’s Super Bowl. He’s also stoked about his company’s growth from a marketing arm to a label and pubco. While there, he’s been behind hits from Bryson Tiller, Kiiara and Trippie Redd. Greenberg is also proud to work on all Quality Control releases and is championing 740’s next wave—Cuban Doll, Ilham and DeathbyRomy. He started as a DJ in the pre-Serato era, so he can still blend records and would make an excellent addition to your next bar mitzvah.

Katie McCartney

SVP, Marketing & Label Operations, Monument Records

The impact Shania Twain and Vince Gill have had on McCartney, whose role has gone from fan to team member, spans from childhood right to her current position. Nonetheless, CJ Cregg would be her top pick if she could have dinner with anyone in the world, which says a lot. The West Wing lover is proud of a genre-bending roster of artists that includes the continuously successful Walker Hayes and Caitlyn Smith, as well as new artists Anna Moon and Brandon Ratcliff.

Carrie Murphy

Agent, WME Nashville

The Belmont alum got her start playing Music City honky-tonks Tootsies and The Stage on Lower Broadway. She may no longer work for tips but can still sing a mean “Something to Talk About” at karaoke. Murphy, who’s thrilled to be working with country music trailblazers like Kassi Ashton, is grateful to have experienced a special, full-circle moment this past spring when she organized a showcase for Belmont songwriting students. These aspiring hitmakers were given the opportunity to play an intimate room full of publishing, management and record execs. A few students were even offered pub deals because of that night.

Lindsay Schapiro

Sr. Director Digital Marketing, Mom+Pop

Schapiro is honored to be actively working with so many female/non-binary acts, including Courtney Barnett, Alice Merton, Hinds, Sunflower Bean, Lucius, Alina Baraz, Ashe, Tash Sultana and MNDR. Her heart swells at history in the making as these artists break through barriers at radio, streaming and touring. She also calls being a part of the new Tom Morello record a “life highlight.” If you come by her place, don’t you dare breathe on her plaque commemorating the double-platinum certification of Flume’s “Never Be Like You”—off Grammy-winning album Skin.

Sarah Jabbari

Artist Manager/A&R, Red Light Management

The U.K. transplant, now based in L.A., loves creating new partnerships between teams of top-notch songwriters and producers by utilizing Red Light’s artist roster and network. She personally manages producer Steve Mostyn (Miguel, Alicia Keys), as well as artist Roméo and his other project, FARR. Jabbari also does A&R for Icona Pop. It’s safe to assume that attending a full Fleetwood Mac dress rehearsal before their last tour—in a room with no more than 15—serves as a real wow moment. If you wanna be her friend, talk to Sparrow.

Sebastian Zar

Associate, Sedlmayr & Associates, P.C.

The London-born, NYC-bred attorney, who lived in Istanbul for two years during high school, feels particularly warm and fuzzy when he spots his name in the liner notes of albums by some of his favorite artists/clients. He’s currently thrilled to be working with Post Malone, following all the crazy beerbongs & bentleys success, newly signed Def Jam artist YK Osiris, super-producer CashMoneyAp and Xavier Omar, who recently inked with RCA. Zar, whose career includes a background in management as well as a stint at Sony, has a rep for being particularly savvy when it comes to the future of hip-hop.
