CHART STORY: SCORPION STINGS ON

Yes, that’s right; Drake’s still on top. For a fourth consecutive week, his YMCMB/Republic set, Scorpion, remains at #1 on the HITS Top 50 Chart, as the megastar moves another 180k.

Perhaps the week’s biggest story surrounds Capitol’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again soundtrack, which leaps #21-3 with 46k following the movie’s appearance in theaters. Meanwhile, the soundtrack to the first film—simply titled Mamma Mia!—re-enters the chart at #21, and ABBA’s Greatest Hits, which is also housed by Capitol, re-enters at #24. If Barnett hasn’t changed his ringtone to “Dancing Queen” yet, consider us deeply disappointed.

Following Most Added Country radio honors for his latest single, “She Got the Best of Me,” as well as an emotional Colbert performance, River House/Columbia Nashville’s Luke Combs returns to the Top 10. His This One’s for You also just became the fastest debut country album to be certified platinum since Chris Stapleton’s Traveller (2015). Just behind him is Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, who hops #14-11 with reputation. Her “Delicate,” of course, just went #1 at Pop radio. Tay Tay’s stadium tour, which includes two nights at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium (7/27 and 7/28), will soon wrap on 8/7.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 65%, WMG follows with 20% and SME is #3 with 11%, while the indies claim 4%.

Streeting this week are albums by Blue Chair/Warner Music Nashville’s Kenny Chesney, 19/RCA’s Daughtry, Virgin’s Rise Against and Capitol’s Queen Naija.

In other news, according to the interwebs, August 8th is “National Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day.” We just thought we should let you know so you could properly prepare.
