FLIPOVER FRIDAY: NEW ARRIVALS AT iTUNES AND APPLE MUSIC

This flipover Friday might as well be christened flip over Drake day. The Top 25 of Apple Music’s songs chart is all Drake; his new YMCMB/Republic release Scorpion is #1 at Apple Music and iTunes; and he has four tracks climbing the iTunes songs chart—“Nonstop,” “Don’t Matter to Me” f/Michael Jackson, “In My Feelings” and “Talk Up” f/Jay-Z. All four are in the Top 10 and another two are not far behind.

Beyond Drake, five other new albums are sitting in the Top 10 at iTunes, two of which were recorded decades ago.

Florence + The Machine’s fourth studio album High as Hope (Republic) ascends to #2 with Gorillaz’ sixth full-length, The Now Now (Parlophone) swinging in at #3. Bullet For My Valentine’s sixth album, Gravity (Spinefarm) is #4.

Thirty one years after it was initially released, Guns N’ RosesAppetite for Destruction (Geffen) is back in the Top 10 as the 51-track, Super Deluxe edition of classic LP rockets to #5.

At #9 is a rediscovered, never released session from 1963 by John Coltrane and his classic quartet, Both Directions at Once: The Lost Album (Verve). Country rap act Demun Jones and Upchurch are #10 with The Oven (RAHHH). Hillsong Young and Free’s III (Hillsong/Capitol Christian) sits just outside the Top 10.

Joining Drake in the Top 10 at iTunes songs is Queen Naija’s “Karma” (Capitol), which has risen to #1 by Friday afternoon.
