NEW ISLAND NATION

Leaning against a board rumored to have resin residue on the faders from Bob Marley’s fingers are the new team at Island Records UK, from left, Annie Christensen, Natasha Mann, Alex Boateng, Louis Bloom, Liv Nunn and Steve Pitron.

Island Records U.K. is starting a new era with Louis Bloom as President and the promotion of four executives: Alex Boateng, Natasha Mann, Olivia Nunn and Steve Pitron.

Bloom has been with Island for 16 years, most recently as Head of A&R, where he signed Mumford & Sons, Hozier, Catfish and the Bottlemen and many others.

“Louis grew up surrounded by music and his passion for everything Island stands for runs deep,” Universal Music UK Chairman & CEO David Joseph said. “He has already been a huge part of Island’s recent success and understands the legacy and responsibility of what he is taking on. He is an exceptional executive who I know has the team and determination to write an exciting new chapter for the label.”

Bloom says, “To have contributed to the Island legacy over the past 16 years has been a genuine honour and to now be given the opportunity to lead this amazing label and help shape our future in what are hugely exciting times is an enormous privilege and a fantastic challenge that myself and the outstanding Island team are relishing. I want Island to be the #1 label and home for culture and creativity.”

The new structure at Island finds Boateng installed as President of Urban; Mann and Nunn as co-Managing Directors; and Pitron as SVP, Island Records & Promotions. Jon Turner will also have a new role at the label, which will be announced later.

Boateng created the U.K.’s first major label Urban division in 2017; Mann and Nunn have been marketing directors since November 2016; and Pitron became Director of Promotions in 2016.
