Actually, just the opposite is true of this week’s gathering of names on industry lips. Republic emperor Monte Lipman and hip-hop hero J. Cole are laughing all the way to the bank, UMPG goddess Jody Gerson is all smiles after taking home an ASCAP award on behalf of her pubbery, Columbia remodeler Ron Perry is getting a kick out of signing big checks, UMG Nashville marshal Cindy Mabe can’t wait to watch SNL, NMPA ruler David Israelite is happily envisioning the swelling bank accounts of the writers whose rights he’s battled for—and last but not least, the entire civilized world has been spewing coffee (or tea) over the comedy stylings of Kanye West.

And here’s an amusing bit of trivia: This HITS List contains three Daves and a Darcus.
