CHART STORY: PANTHER PREVAILS IN WEEK TWO

The powerful, Kendrick Lamar-helmed Black Panther soundtrack spends its second week at #1 on the Top 50 Chart, moving nearly 125k. That means the release (on TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) is now approaching 300k.

It’s worth noting that five songs from the set currently occupy our Song Revenue Chart Top 15. Kendrick Lamar f/SZA’s “All the Stars” leads the pack at #3 there, as it earns more than $155k on its own for the week ending 2/15.

Atlantic’s Greatest Showman soundtrack continues to flaunt its stamina, holding at #2 and tacking on an additional 60k or so in its 11th week out. Meanwhile, MigosCulture II (QC/Motown/Capitol) busts back into the Top 3 with more than 59k.

As for the debuts, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap (Atlantic) and Brandi Carlile’s By the Way, I Forgive You (Low Country/Elektra) serve as the only new releases in the Top 50. They land at #4 and #5 with 47k+ and 38k+, respectively.

And then there’s N-Less/Interscope’s Moneybagg Yo, who makes the biggest move, jumping #29-13 with 22k for 2 Heartless. Remember: Moneybagg chose to release this project on Valentine’s Day, which fell on a Wednesday this year, so his first appearance on the chart (last week) was based on just two days’ worth of numbers. Now, he’s benefiting from a full week.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 56%, WMG follows with 26% and SME is #3 with 17%, while the indies claim 1%.

Streeting this week are sets from Atlantic’s Vance Joy, ScumGang/TenThousand’s 6ix9ine, Epic/CMG’s Blac Youngsta.

On a related note, ScumLame remains the primary nickname for HITS HQ.
