ELTON HEARTS GRETA

Sir Elton John has handpicked Greta Van Fleet to perform at this year's Elton John AIDS Foundation's 26th annual Academy Awards Viewing Party on 3/4 in L.A.

"We were speechless when Elton called us," said guitarist Jake Kiszka. "We are all big fans of his, so we’re very, very honored by this invitation."

In other GVF news, the band's 2018 North American tour, announced last Wednesday, sold out in less than five minutes. The widely adored young group, who are putting rock & roll back in the public consciousness—and on the streaming charts, with 10m+ plays for the rip-roaring “Highway Tune” on Spotify—will also play Coachella on 4/13 and 4/20; these are the only West Coast dates announced thus far.

Greta is heating up, to say the least. Total activity on the From the Fire EP since release 11 weeks ago is 75.4k. That breaks down to 61k albums, 15m streams and 44k track sales.

The three Kiszka brothers and Danny Wagner are in the process of cutting their debut full-length, which will arrive later this year via Lava/Republic. You can listen to their most recent drop, a cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" for Spotify, below.
