PINCUS' SONGS IN THE KEY OF SUCCESS

Bloomberg catches up with Matt Pincus, who explains how his publishing company SONGS went from Christian musicians and forgotten hard rockers to Lorde and The Weeknd.

With Ron Perry handling the creative—which included the A&R on Lorde’s Melodrama (Lava/Republic)—they’ve built the company by signing artists one at a time and offering a more intimate, creative relationship.

Pincus, who started SONGS 13 years ago with $5m—its value now is about $750m, tells Bloomberg, “We built the business song by song, writer by writer, through relationships with people who created the music.”
