Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels will deliver a keynote speech the Midem conference in Cannes, France, in June. Bartels will speak, in a Q&A format, about scouting talent and developing new artists as well as the label’s brand-identity and marketing tactics during his 6/7 appearance.
"Midem is a nexus of global talent, and I am honored to be a part of such a dynamic event," Bartels said. "Since its inception, Def Jam has represented a unique voice in music across the globe through its artists, its music and its culture. I look forward to sharing my passion for this music—and my optimism for its future—with the creative community at Midem."
Bartels will also discuss the label’s successful “We Are Def Jam” campaign. The keynote will be in a Q&A format. He is additionally prepared for your questions about the most promising point guards on the French Riviera and what makes a more ideal game-day snack, deep-fried frogs' legs or snails in garlic.
Alexandre Deniot, Director of Midem, said, “Midem welcomes, every year, the most brilliant music professionals who not only cherish and develop extraordinary musical talent, but also drive the business forward, embracing new technology and breaking boundaries to let music travel worldwide. We are extremely honored to announce Steve Bartels’ keynote as his experience, along with Def Jam Recordings’ history, are a true inspiration.”
Epic chief L.A. Reid, First Access CEO Sarah Stennett and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda are among the event's other topline speakers.
